What I'm doing now
Now
Updated July 2026Austin, TX
This is a /now page — what I’m focused on right this month. Inspired by Derek Sivers’s convention. Updated every 1–2 months; if it’s stale, ping me.
Work
- Building out SonarSource’s GTM data models — currently focused on the semantic layer, standardizing on the Open Semantic Interchange (OSI).
- Taking select consulting work — data pipelines + data modeling, governance cleanup, BI cost reduction.
- Trying to cut through the AI-revolution noise and figure out how to actually use it — I’m convinced it’s the future, and a little worried about whether I still have a role in it.
Building
- This site. Rebuilt from scratch on Rails 8 + Hotwire. See /colophon.
- College Football Alum — shipped. Live at collegefootballalum.com.
Learning
- Entity resolution strategies for work — reconciling the data models of an enterprise B2B CRM, a self-serve CRM, Stripe, and product usage so the same entity resolves to one thing across them in the data lake.
- The Open Semantic Interchange (OSI) standard — declarative YAML for metrics, dimensions, and joins, shared across tools.
- Designing Data-Intensive Applications (re-read, slowly).
- Postgres logical replication and the trade-offs vs. trigger-based CDC.
- Domain Driven Design and how to convince people it’s a good idea.
Training
- Phase: deep in the cut, down from the 321 peak and still going. Staying in it through late September — one week off while on vacation, then back to leaning out through early fall.
- 5 lifting days, 1 HIIT, 1 active-recovery / refeed. Schedule on /health.
- Goal next: Sub 10% body fat and 270lbs by fall
